EFCC Visits Citi Polytechnic to Launch Zero Tolerance Club
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) recently visited Citi Polytechnic on the 19th of February 2025, to Establish A ZERO TOLERANCE CLUB, a student-led initiative aimed at promoting integrity, transparency, and the fight against corruption within the institution. The event, which took place at the school’s main hall, was attended by students, faculty members, and top officials of the EFCC.
Promoting Anti-Corruption Awareness
The visit was part of EFCC’s ongoing efforts to engage young minds in the fight against financial crimes, cyber fraud, and other corrupt practices. During the event, EFCC officials emphasized the importance of upholding ethical values and encouraged students to be ambassadors of honesty and accountability in their academic and personal lives.
The keynote speaker, of the EFCC chairman representative, highlighted the role of youth in curbing corruption, stating:
→Corruption is a major challenge in our society, and it is crucial to educate young people on the dangers of financial crimes. The Zero Tolerance Club will serve as a platform to instill values of integrity and responsibility among students.
Objectives of the Zero Tolerance Club
The club is designed to serve as a watchdog against corruption-related activities within the school and beyond. Some of its core objectives include:
→Educating students on the consequences of fraud, bribery, and other corrupt practices.
→Encouraging ethical behavior and integrity in academics and daily life.
→Partnering with the EFCC in sensitization campaigns against cybercrime and internet fraud (commonly known as “Yahoo Yahoo”).
→Reporting suspicious activities that may indicate corruption or financial misconduct.

The management of Citi Polytechnic expressed full support for the initiative, reaffirming their commitment to producing graduates who are not only academically sound but also morally upright. The school’s rector in person of CHIEF SIMEON BARINYIMA NWATE , in his address, showed great appreciation to the EFCC members and the hold commission for choosing Citi Polytechnic as one of the institutions for this important program.

Students’ Reaction
Students at the event welcomed the initiative, expressing their willingness to be part of the movement against corruption. Many pledged to serve as role models and advocates for ethical behavior both within the school and in their communities.

The patron who was among those selected to lead the club, remarked in person of MR.MAZI MARTINS UCHE the HOD of computer science said,This is a great opportunity for us to take a stand against corruption. We are ready to work with the EFCC to create awareness and ensure that our fellow students do not engage in fraudulent activities.
After the program, the EFCC members took pictures with selected coordinators for the club, as well as with students and management of the school. The commission also installed a soundboard in the school compound to represent the club.
To further promote the club’s objectives, the EFCC said that they will provide T-shirts for the selected coordinators and student leaders, who will serve as ambassadors for the Zero Tolerance Club. The T-shirts will also serve as proof of their membership in the club.
The EFCC encouraged the student ambassadors to visit other primary and secondary schools in Abuja to spread awareness about cyber security and the corruption.
